Über das Schiff

Die Historie

Built in 1913, WN RAGLAND was constructed to haul granite under sail in the North Seas. She is 100 feet long overall, 100 feet tall, and getting ready for her 100th birthday. A “Rubenesque girl”, she tips the scales at an amazing 280,000 pounds. Converted for private use by Bainbridge architect Roger Katz for entertainer Neil Young. Mr. Young owned her for over 35 years and lavished her with great love and care. Uncommon features include her stainless steel rigging, and artistic adornments, such as redwood burl furniture from Mr. Young’s California ranch, walls (bulkheads) made from the New York Windsor Hotel’s ballroom floor, elephant tusk furniture, heavy hand beveled glass, her anchor windlass from a World War II German U-boat, a warm and cozy fireplace, and literally tons of bronze fittings. Ragland has been extensively cruised through the Pacific and Caribbean.
